Always at Work
In the midst of all the financial and economic turmoil and uncertainty of this past week, where we set our gaze is of the greatest importance. I have found myself reading once again Proverbs 3:5-6 where the writer of wisdom says:
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”
We need to remind ourselves that God is always at work, orchestrating all things together from start to finish. He never steps off the throne. Of course, sometimes we have to pray that The Lord would give us the eyes to see what He is doing and what He has placed right in front of us. To see with eyes of faith, creativity, and courage the work that He has set before us to do, in the light of all that goes on around us.
As we walk with humility and in boldness to carry out God’s work through our lives, it is also important to remind ourselves of the importance of surrounding ourselves with the right people. Wise and spiritual men and women who can encourage us, direct us, and help us along our way.
There will be those moments when we face the persecution of others and attacks from the enemy, but we must remember that God is with us and that He fights for us every step of the way. Through His Spirit, He equips us with strength, grace and faith, as well as the people we need in order to accomplish His purposes in our lives.
When we walk in submission to God, and alongside those around us, we can be assured that He will provide us with instruction and wisdom for each step.
Finally, as we think about the ‘more’ that we long to see God do amongst us, I was reminded that revival is not birthed through preaching but through prayer. Guy Peh says: “The truth is that we can’t teach people into revival. We can’t preach people into revival. We can’t program people into revival. The key to revival has always been prayer.”
I am so grateful for all of the prayer warriors at Encounter, those who pray at home, in small groups and those who come along to Firefall. I am convinced that there is great power in fasting and praying as we seek the wisdom of the Lord in our lives and as we walk by faith. It is through His ever-increasing Presence that God will lead, instruct, provide and protect our steps.
